Because a Team Can't be Built
in a Day: The SuddenTeams® Program

Most managers seeking the benefits of better teamwork try short-term teambuilding exercises, thinking this will save them money. That is the same as going to a half-day seminar to master golf. Standard teambuilding puts the cart before the horse by targeting one or two factors of teamwork (like communication or trust) before instilling the key elements of high-performance teams. If you're trying to build teamwork without those elements, teambuilding exercises may accomplish fun and some temporary good feelings—but won't get measurable results.

The 500-page SuddenTeams® Program from TeamTrainersTM is a training manual based on more than 450 scientific and business sources (so far) and tested with real-world experience. It uses The Science of TeamsTM to help work groups efficiently create the key elements essential to high-performance teams while tackling your real challenges (not fake tasks).

What It Is

The program contains:

  • A complete script for leading a team to high performance quickly.
  • Another script for preparing the team's manager and human resources staff to support a true team.
  • Additional background and instructions to guide the trainer each step of the way.
  • More than 80 pages of handouts.
  • More than 90 pages of techniques for solving specific team problems.

Along the way, the team also receives training in communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and meeting facilitation. And, by the end of the training its work processes are charted or updated and ready for systematic improvement.

How It Works

  1. At no cost, I assess by phone whether your group should and can be a true team, or whether I can help it solve its specific problems. If you don't need team training, I won't take the job, in hopes that you'll refer us to another company who does need us.
  2. I interview the team's manager, leader (if different), team members, and representative stakeholders to determine the team's exact challenges and training needs, then provide a training cost-benefit analysis.
  3. For small problems, I conduct the training in as little as half a day. The full SuddenTeams Program instills the critical elements of high-performance teaming either as part of regular team meetings over several months, or on a more intensive schedule that completes training in as little as three weeks.
  4. We provide ongoing phone and e-mail consultation at no extra charge—for two months to a full year depending on the extent of training provided.
  5. In the case of the full SuddenTeams Program, I provide follow-up training to evaluate and fine-tune team performance.

My Personal Guarantee

I'm so confident in the power of the SuddenTeams Program, I offer a no-net-cost guarantee. If the performance measures your team sets during training don't show that you more than recover what you paid us within one year, I will refund the difference if you ask.
